Archery & Nature Club Instructor

Camp Fire Central Texas is looking for a couple of great people to lead our afterschool Archery Club and Nature Club programs this fall. If you love working with kids, being outside, and teaching something hands-on, this might be the best part-time job you'll ever have.

 

Here's what the job actually is: You'll teach elementary school kids (grades 1-6) how to safely shoot a bow, or how to explore and understand the natural world around them. You'll watch a shy kid hit the target for the first time and light up. You'll answer a hundred questions about bugs and trees and weather. You'll be the adult a kid remembers because you made time for them after school.

 

Camp Fire has been doing this work in Austin for 60 years. We connect young people to the outdoors, to others, and to themselves. Our instructors are a huge part of how that happens.

 

What we're looking for:

• Someone who is patient, energetic, and genuinely likes being around kids

• Comfortable leading a group and keeping things safe and fun

• Available for afternoon shifts, Monday-Friday, 2:45-4:00pm

• Spanish speakers are a big plus

• No archery experience required. We'll certify you through USA Archery and pay for most of the training.

• $22-23/hour

• Part-time, afternoon shifts available Monday-Friday, 2:45-4:00pm

• Locations across Austin (Westlake, South/Central Austin, plus one Montessori school)

• Start date: week of August 31
